One can say that the whole coast of Österlen is just one long beach. Here, there are more than 50 kilometres of most popular sandy beaches of Sweden.
From Ystad and Kåseberga on the South, to the Hanöbutken bay on the North, it is basically the endless stripe of wide sandy beaches, lots of dunes and occasional forests with river streams. On the coast of Österlen, nature rules.
Some of this beaches are considered to be the best in Sweden, like Sandhammaren, others are parts of natural parks, like the beach in Stenshuvud.
If you have a dog, the restriction of walking with them on the beach is actual only in the summer season, and still there are dog-frienldy beaches all year around, like the Lilleskog west of Ystad, Kabusa east of Ystad, and Vårhallen north of Simrishamn.
Naturists are also welcome in Österlen, at the beach west of Nybrostrand or at Hagestad nature reserve.
There are many ports and towns on the coast with hotels and B&B´s, like Simrishamn or Kivik, and many others, just few miles in the countryside, like Borrby or Vitaby, perfect for trekking or biking on your way to the beach.
For those who like nature and walks, beaches of Österlen are just the perfect place, no matter the season.
